Word Battle

Today's battle brings us algophobia from A.Word.A.Day and sempiternal from dictionary.com.

This is a tough one because they are both Latin based and sound good rolling off the tongue. Algophobia ends up not sounding too original since with "phobia" on the backend of the word we know right off the bat it is some sort of fear. However, sempiternal seems irrelevant when you find it is synonymous with eternal and is a combination of the Latin for "always" and "eternal". If something is eternal then it's eternal and saying it is "always" eternal seems to be a sacrifice of conciseness.

So, in today's Word Battle, algophobia is the winner!

Feel free to argue with the judges in the combox.
